Hotdogs and Five Below

Five Below is a chain store where everything in the store is $5 or less.  It's a great place to bring kids - you can give them $5 or $10 and they can opt to spend all $5 on one item or buy 5 smaller items for $1 each.  It's a GREAT way to teach them budgeting/math/impulse control!  They have items such as toys, sports gear, candy/snacks, t-shirts, etc.

After our shopping excursion we drove a little out of our way (about 25 minutes away from home) to go to a hotdog stand known for their hotdogs and frosted-mug root beer.  We went to Hotdog Johnny's on Route 46 in Belvidere, NJ.  They have a swingset and outdoor seating under a hotdog shaped canopy.  Kitschy, inexpensive, and a big hit.

What can I do with my kids that doesn't cost a lot of money?

This is the question I continuously have and the stuff I found online is lame - I don't want to make sock puppets or decorate cupcakes or learn how to crochet!!

So I made my own list and this blog will document the activities I have found. I hope it helps other dads think of FUN things to do with kids!
